Is document compression safe?

Yes. Your documents are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Files are processed on EU servers and automatically deleted after 1 hour. We don't view, share, or store your documents beyond the processing window.

Will compression affect my document's formatting?

No. We only touch embedded images. All text, fonts, styles, tables, charts, formulas, macros, and document properties remain exactly as they were. Compressed documents open identically in their native applications.

What document formats can I compress?

We support PDF, Word (.docx), and PowerPoint (.pptx). Drop any of these formats and we'll automatically detect and optimize them. Legacy formats (.doc, .ppt) need to be converted to modern formats first.

How does document compression work?

Documents contain embedded images (photos, screenshots, graphics) that are often stored at high resolution. We extract these images, compress them using optimized algorithms, then repackage the document. Text, formulas, and formatting are never modified.

How much can I reduce document file sizes?

Results depend on image content:
  • Scanned PDFs: 50-80% reduction
  • Presentations with photos: 50-80% reduction
  • Documents with screenshots: 40-60% reduction
  • Text-only documents: Minimal reduction

Why are my documents so large?

Can I compress password-protected documents?

Documents with open passwords (requiring a password to view) cannot be compressed. Documents with editing restrictions can usually be compressed since we only modify image content.

How are credits calculated for compression?

Cost: 1 credit per 25 MB

How it works:

  • Files up to 25 MB: 1 credit (minimum)
  • 26-50 MB: 2 credits
  • 51-75 MB: 3 credits
  • 76-100 MB: 4 credits
  • Over 1000 MB: 40 credits (maximum cap)

Example: A 5 MB file = 1 credit. A 95 MB file = 4 credits.

Why per-megabyte? Larger files require more processing resources (memory, CPU, bandwidth, storage).
