How long do you keep files?

Auto-delete after 1 hour. No backups. Unrecoverable by design.

The Short Answer

All files—both your uploaded originals and compressed outputs—are automatically deleted after 1 hour. This applies to all tiers: Guest, Free, and Pro.

You can also delete files immediately after downloading by clicking the delete button. Once deleted, files are gone forever—we have no way to recover them.

Why So Short?

We believe the best way to protect your data is to not keep it. Most compression jobs are "compress and download"—you don't need us to store your files for days or weeks.

Short retention also reduces our attack surface. If we don't have your files, they can't be stolen in a breach. This is security through data minimization—a core GDPR principle.

No Backups

We do not create backups of uploaded or compressed files. Our storage is ephemeral by design—files exist only for the brief window needed to complete your job.

This is intentional. Backups create additional copies that could be compromised. By not backing up file content, we ensure deletion is truly permanent.

What We Do Keep

We retain minimal job metadata for billing and analytics:

  • Input and output file sizes (for compression ratio stats)
  • Processing time (for performance monitoring)
  • Job status (success/failure)
  • Timestamp (for daily credit tracking)

We never store file names, file content, or any data that could identify what you compressed. The metadata is purely operational.

Immediate Deletion

Every completed job shows a delete button. Clicking it removes the files immediately—no waiting for the 1 hour window. You can delete all files at once or individually. Either way, deletion is permanent and immediate.
