How it works

Why credits instead of unlimited?

Credits are designed to be effectively unlimited for typical use while ensuring fast processing for everyone.

Generous Allocations

With 10,000 monthly credits and up to 10,000 in your loyalty wallet, Pro users have 20,000 credits available. Business users have 30,000 monthly plus 30,000 loyalty—60,000 credits total.

Most compressions cost 1 credit per file. The generous allocations and rollover mean you're unlikely to run out during normal use.

Why Not Truly Unlimited?

Compress.FAST runs on dedicated high-performance servers. "Unlimited" plans attract users who would monopolize 100% of compute capacity—uploading tens of thousands of files daily, running automated scripts, or using the service as free infrastructure. This would slow down processing for everyone else.

Credits create a soft boundary: generous enough that you'll never notice it, firm enough that no single user can degrade the experience for others.

The Math Works Out

Here's what each tier actually gets:

TierMonthly CreditsMax RolloverTotal Available
Pro10,00010,00020,000
Business30,00030,00060,000

How Credits Work

Credits are based on file size: 1 credit per 25 MB, with a minimum of 1 credit and maximum of 40 credits per file.

  • Small files (under 25 MB) — 1 credit
  • Medium files (25-100 MB) — 1-4 credits
  • Large files (100+ MB) — 4-40 credits (capped at 40)

Examples: A 10 MB photo costs 1 credit. A 50 MB PDF costs 2 credits. A 200 MB presentation costs 8 credits.

We always show the exact credit cost before you start a batch, so there are no surprises.

Shared Across Tools.FAST

Your credits work across the entire Tools.FAST network. Use them on Convert.FAST for file conversions, Compress.FAST for compression, and any future tools we add.

One subscription, one credit pool, multiple tools. No need to manage separate accounts or allocations.

Fair Scheduling

Our fair scheduler ensures no single user can block the queue. Paid tiers get priority (Business → Pro → Free), but within each tier, jobs are distributed fairly. Even if one user uploads 1,000 files, your compressions still process promptly.

This is the other half of the credit equation: credits prevent resource hoarding at the account level, while the fair scheduler prevents queue monopolization at the processing level. Together, they ensure fast, reliable compression for everyone.

Summary

Credits aren't about limiting you—they're about ensuring Compress.FAST stays fast for everyone. With generous monthly allocations, 2× rollover, and per-compressor transparency, the system is designed so you'll rarely think about credits at all.
